Today is my 10 year wedding anniversary, and I feel like it’s a perfect day to write my first true blog post! My husband and I have been together for over 16 years, we met in 4-H and started dating as teenagers. We have been there for each other from finishing high school to college to starting careers and then navigating married life and becoming parents. Life has thrown us some real curve balls, especially in the past few years, but we faced each challenge together because it is all we have ever done. I feel so lucky to be married to my best friend and have experienced all of the best and worst days so far together.
In honor of it being our anniversary I thought I would share some gratitude for my husband. I don’t always take the time to say thank you, and I want to let him know some of the things I truly appreciate about him.
Thank you for always supporting me…. no matter what I have been doing or wanted to do you have always had my back and come through to help me whenever I needed it most.
Thank you for working hard for our family… you have endured long commutes, lots of business trips, and all of the stresses of work to not only allow for new opportunities for yourself and your career, but also to provide for us and giving me the opportunity to stay home with our son the last couple of years.
Thank you for traveling with me… I am so grateful that we take the time and money to go places when we can, whether it is a new place or a yearly summer vacation. When we got married 10 years ago we promised each other we would see Hawaii for this anniversary and we made it happen this past year, one of the best trips of my life. Where to next?!
Thank you for knowing when I am upset… I tend to keep my feelings bottled up sometimes, but you always know when something is weighing on me and talk me through things and make me feel better.
Thank you for making me laugh… I am so glad we are always able to laugh together. You can find humor in a lot of situations and even when things are hard you can make me smile.
Thank you for being such a great Dad… I love watching our son try and be like you and do everything you do. You take the time to build him the craziest Lego creations, play hot wheels, and take him on trips to “the depot”. He is so lucky to have you to look up to!
I could write so many more things that I am thankful for and I would be sitting here typing all day. At the end of the day I just want to make sure you know how special you are to me and how much I appreciate you even though I don’t say it all of the time. Our marriage is definitely not perfect, but it’s perfect for us. I can’t believe we have been married for 10 years, but I can’t wait to see what the next 10 years brings.
